Easter at WrenSocial

Happy Easter, we hope that you are able to relax and have as laid back an Easter as this Easter Bunny!:

To help you to relax we have added some extra opening times over the Easter holiday.

We have done this in the past, when there was something happening in the Village Hall using our bar facility, meaning that social club bar staff are serving anyway. If it proves popular, we will look to do it again in the future.

So why not take advantage of this opportunity if you'd like to come and see our facilities, but find it difficult to visit us on a Thursday or Friday evening - or if you have friends and family over and you fancy a drink or two.

We'd love to see you!

WE'LL BE OPEN:

Thursday 28th March
From 8pm until 11pm.
For our weekly WrenSocial Beer Night

Good Friday 29th March
From 8pm until 11pm.
The perfect way to start your Easter Weekend!

Saturday 30th March
From 8pm until 11pm.
When you've finished buying all those Easter Eggs - come and have a pint!

BANK HOLIDAY Monday 1st April
From 1pm until 6pm.
Forget that you've got work tomorrow and say goodbye to Easter at WrenSocial

We've got some lovely ales on too:
Shepherd Neame's Master Brew
Hardys & Hansons Olde Trip
Adnams Lighthouse
(Any two of these lovely ales should be on at any time)

Good Beer & Footy - enough said

This week we're open on THURSDAY & FRIDAY from 8pm.

Thursday is our weekly BEER NIGHT and this week we've got Shepherd Neame's Master Brew.

Delicate and devilishly drinkable, this quintessentially Kentish ale lays the county's hallowed, herbaceous hops on a firm, biscuity bed of pale and crystal malt. Endowed with an inviting auburn-amber hue and a tantalising toffee-ish aroma, it's an enlivening English ale that, given its unassuming 3.7%ABV, pleasures the palate with a remarkable fullness of flavour.
Friday sees the England football team play away in San Marino in the first of two World Cup qualifiers this week. Kick-off is 8pm, which is perfect for us - so come and enjoy the game on our big screen with a few pints.

(Other drinks are available for the 'ladies!) 8-)

Get your RED NOSE into our curry

What a week we have lined-up for you all!

BRING YOUR RED NOSE ON FRIDAY:
It's COMIC RELIEF night on FRIDAY, which is when we have our WrenSocial CURRY NIGHT arranged, so of course Lenny and friends will be on the big screen in the club all evening, so you won't miss a minute of fun.

We'll be serving a wide selection of curries from 8pm, so bring friends a family (even if their not members) and enjoy a fun-packed night.

All we ask is that everyone makes a sensible donation for their meal.

The guest ale this week is from the Belhaven Brewery in East Lothian, Scotland.

80 Shilling (Abv 3.9%) is a classic hand-pulled ale, with a really rich smooth appearance and taste - perfect to enjoy with a plate of curry!

So see you on THURSDAY & FRIDAY from 8pm.

Come and let the Oracle inspire you

An oracle was a person considered to be a source of wise counsel or prophetic predictions for the future!

Well we will give it our best shot, but the Oracle of which we speak is this weeks guest ale. It's from one of our favorite brewers: Salopian Brewery in Shropshire.

The intention of the hop character in Oracle (4% ABV) is to be pronounced but not all encompassing, dry but not overtly bitter and a tiny hint of sweetness to add body. Its one of the most expensive of the Salopian beers to brew as it relies heavily on expensive hops from the US.

The creation of Oracle came about because of the employment of a new member of staff and a trip to a local pub. Jake Douglas joined the brewery in early 2008 having spent a decade at a brewery synonymous with hoppy beers; a promise was made early on to brew a beer to his taste. The trip to the pub was to try a beer of this style. The ambition was to create a balanced low gravity golden beer with a striking hop character. After a period of test brews Oracle was born.

We had a little sip on Tuesday night when preparing the cask and it was LOVELY and not one to be missed.

See you on THURSDAY & FRIDAY from 8pm.
