ST AUSTELL ROYAL ALBERT 4.4% abv

Named after Brunel’s bridge across the Tamar that links Cornwall and Devon and completes a major refurbishment in 2013. Royal Albert is a confident full malty ale, full of roasted toffee and caramel with a hint of vanilla. This is a very traditional quality ale that befits its name. Style: Traditional English bitter.

HARDYS & HANSONS BITTER 3.9% abv

Hardys & Hansons Bitter is a brew with an excellent balance of sweetness and bitterness that combines with a subtle hop character. Available in cask only, this is a distinctive beer with a full and satisfying finish.

We've got something GOLD this week

No boys - not Shirley Eaton, which is a great shame!

In addition to our regular ADNAMS Lighthouse ale, this week we've got Greene King's rather lovely IPA GOLD.

This light golden ale (4.1%) brings the best out of the Savinsjki Goldings hop variety. The timing for introducing these hops is all-important because this creates the balance between the hoppy aroma and the bitterness of the aftertaste. The brewers add the hops at a later stage of the boil than with the Greene King IPA – this brings out tropical fruit aromas and spicy notes, which are followed by the clean, bitter flavour and crisp, dry finish. 

Being a lighter ale, they recommend enjoying Greene King IPA Gold with fish or pasta - but we prefer Pork Scratchings, Peanuts and Crisps - or perhaps a wedge of Cheese if you're really lucky!

We're open as usual from 8PM this THURSDAY and FRIDAY.

It's WrenSocial BBQ time

We've given our beer patio a spring clean and the BBQ is ready to go, so why not join us this FRIDAY night from 7.30pm for our first WrenSocial BBQ of 2013.

Social Club members get their first burger or hot-dog FREE!

Two guest ales this week:

ALE FRESCO (4.3% ABV)

Smooth and easy drinking, this refreshing golden cask ale is brewed using

Centennial hops, and has a citrus taste and subtle fruit aroma.

A good partner for our 100% beef, beef burgers.

ADDED FOR THE BBQ: OLD GOLDEN HEN (4.1% ABV)

This light golden beer delivers both flavour and refreshment, brewed using the finest pale malts, and the rare Galaxy hop to give a light golden colour, subtle tropical fruit notes and a deliciously smooth finish.

The Ale gets our vote

As Wreningham goes to the polls tonight, it's the perfect time to pop in to the room behind the polling station and see what WrenSocial is all about. 

We're open from 8pm tonight.

As well as the usual fully-stocked bar, this week we've got 'St Edmunds' (4.2% ABV) as our guest ale, which we expect to go fast! It's a fresh, golden beer with a citrus finish, brewed using pale malt and cascade hops. Crafted for modern tastes using traditional brewing methods, this is the perfect introduction to real beer.

But don't panic, when it's gone, we've also got Greene King's 'Twisted Wheel' (4% ABV) ready to go. It's a fresh light ale with a twist of ginger and a zip of spice.
