On her be pleased to pour ...

So the Diamond Jubilee is here at last and as instructed in the 2nd line of the the 3rd verse of our national anthem, we are only too pleased to pour a couple of special Jubilee ales and salute this very special occasion.

We've got Woodforde's lovely Jubilee beer 'Norfolk Gem', described as
"a careful blend of pale, cara and crystal malts coupled with English Challenger and Pacific Gem hops from New Zealand, deliver a well balanced amber ale with intriging hints of malt, blackcurrant and citrus fruits, and a satisfying bitter finish".

and also another Jubilee ale from Liverpoool brewer, Cains called 'Jubilee Mild'

We'll be open as normal on Thursday night from 8pm
AND ALSO FROM 6.30pm on Friday night
for a special Jubilee Family Night.

Just bring a plate of party food!

Stick two fingers up at the bar!

This Thursday & Friday we've got Shepherd Neame's Spitfire Premium Kentish Ale.

Originally brewed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, its characteristically Kentish, hoppy flavor and risque advertising campaign has made it a firm favourite with beer lovers.

Winner of a gold medal and Best Strong Cask-Conditioned Beer of the World at the Brewing Industry International Awards, Spitfire Ale is now Shepherd Neame's biggest-selling cask conditioned ale. Spitfire Ale has Protected Geographical Indication, the same regional produce protection afforded to Champagne and Parma Ham.

See you from 8pm this Thursday & Friday.

Morland to the rescue...

Disaster - Not only did the Hook Norton First light have hints of watermelon and lychees, it had the appearance of Donald's pee after a dodgy weetabix!

But panic not, Mark had a barrel of Morland Original bitter ready to go. It's a 4% ABV, moreish and refreshing beer with a subtle malt & fruit character & pronounced bitter finish.

So with that and our Adnams Lighthouse, there are at least two good reasons to pop-in for a pint tonight from 8pm.

We hope to see you later.

Hints of watermelon and lychees!

Well we had to try this one, but who writes this stuff?

Hook Norton Brewery First Light 4.3% ABV

Described as, "A very pale, light brew with a complex hop aroma. The continental type palate is from the high proportion of Malted Wheat, which is used in addition to Malted Barley. Styrian Goldings hops are added, which give a fruity nose, with hints of watermelon and lychees".

More info at: http://www.hooknortonbrewery.co.uk/beers_home.html

If the hints of watermelon and lychees aren't to your liking, we've got our lovely house pint too - Adnams Lighthouse, so despite the horrible weather it's still a good week to drop-in for a pint or two. See you tonight or tomorrow from 8pm.

Come and get a slap in your kisser

This weeks guest ale is Jennings 'Slap & Stickle' - a 3.8%, slightly sweet light golden ale with a hint of toffee right to the bottom of the glass (or so we are told).

We've got our lovely old favorite Adnams Lighthouse too, so with all ales still priced at £2.50 for social club members, a few slaps may be in order!

FAMILY NIGHT
This Friday is the first Friday in the month, so we'll be open from 6:30pm for our monthly Family Night.
